Chalk…

I’ve been noticing over the past couple of weeks or so that the newest rage on the internet is Pinterest. For those of you who don’t know, Pinterest is like having your own personal cork board in which you find things around the internet and save the ideas for later. When you do this, others can see you the interesting things that you’ve found and re-pin them on their board. The items you will see on Pinterest, range from cooking/baking ideas to craft projects for around the house. Now, I consider myself to be a pretty crafty guy, and with having just purchased our first house, my wife and I were looking for ideas to liven up our walls. One thing I found was a chalkboard made of an old frame and using chalkboard paint to cover the main pain in which would become the chalkboard.

Darcy and I drove to Hobby Lobby in order to find items which would make this work in our kitchen. Being unsuccessful in find the perfect frame, Darcy discovered some trays that might work. I picked up a couple and tried to imagine them being a chalkboard, and eventually found one that was just right. We purchased a tray, chalkboard paint (can be found as spray paint or in a can), and some wall mounting hooks. Once I taped the parts of the tray which I didn’t want to have paint on them, I sprayed the board (a total of 3 coats) and voila…a chalkboard perfect for the kitchen.

I then found 2 frames at Gordman’s which were on clearance for $6.00 each, and they definitely compliment the tray. Let me know what you think.

Until next time, keep on dilly-dallying!

Overdue…

Darcy is officially at 40 weeks today, and this baby has decided to stay inside and not make his/her appearance. I think this might be the single, most-hardest, thing to wait for. My friend, Zach White, talked me into not finding out the sex of our baby and argued many good reasons. One, the most obvious, was because it is one of the greatest surprises that life has. You wait 40 weeks, or more, to find out this one thing and you just rejoice in excitement. Another was that it’s the way people have been doing it for centuries so what’s the NEED to find out? I must say that one of the most exciting time of my life was when I found out that I was going to be a dad, but soon I think that will be replaced by, or in a close race to, when we find out the sex of the baby.

With the upcoming arrival of Baby Dildine, I have been trying to find a way to document all of the changes, because like I said in previous posts, this past year was a year of changes. There is an iPhone app, Project 365,  that allows you to take a picture each day for a year and keep track of it on a calendar, as not to forget. I think that I am going to incorporate it here, but not everyday as not to overwhelm some of my subscribers. I think that this will be an interesting way, in a year from now, look back at all the changes. Tomorrow will be the first day that I start this, and I hope that you are looking forward to the journey.

Until next time, keep on dilly-dallying!

Reccomendations…

As usual, I am always thinking of what will I post next, and today was no different. I thought to myself while driving, and listening to a newly discovered artist … THIS IS IT! Today will be a post on two recommendations I have for all my readers, how many ever that might be.

First, as most of you know, I am a big music fan, and I’m always up for a new discovery. Most of the time I will find new artists through blogs or other websites, but this time it happened at church. Malachi Jaggers is a christian singer, songwriter, musician, and worship leader from Delphi, IN. Now, normally myself and 6 others will lead worship, but this particular weekend we took it off, and Malachi lead. After listening to  his first song I thought to myself, “this guy can really sing!”

From the first word, to the last note, he continued to wow me with how his music is truly God inspired as every lyric pours with praise to the Lord. I immediately purchased two of his CD’s, and have not stopped listening to them.

I could go on with a 1500 word blog entry on his music, but I will let it speak for itself. Click here to open up his media player. He is also on Facebook.

The second recommendation is for a movie that I think looks absolutely hilarious! You’ve all heard the term “friends with benefits”, right? Well, there is a movie coming out called ‘Friends With Kids’. This comedy starring Megan Fox, Maya Rudolph, Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, Adam Scott, and Kristen Wiig, involves a pair of thirty-something best friends who have observed the toll that having kids takes on their friends. They both proclaim that they want to have kids, but not be tied to the other person (intrigued?). Their solution, get pregnant and then date other people.

This movies involve most of the cast of ‘Bridesmaids’, so you know it will be good. Check out the trailer below:

That’s all I have, but I would love to hear your recommendations!
