I’ve been noticing over the past couple of weeks or so that the newest rage on the internet is Pinterest. For those of you who don’t know, Pinterest is like having your own personal cork board in which you find things around the internet and save the ideas for later. When you do this, others can see you the interesting things that you’ve found and re-pin them on their board. The items you will see on Pinterest, range from cooking/baking ideas to craft projects for around the house. Now, I consider myself to be a pretty crafty guy, and with having just purchased our first house, my wife and I were looking for ideas to liven up our walls. One thing I found was a chalkboard made of an old frame and using chalkboard paint to cover the main pain in which would become the chalkboard.
Darcy and I drove to Hobby Lobby in order to find items which would make this work in our kitchen. Being unsuccessful in find the perfect frame, Darcy discovered some trays that might work. I picked up a couple and tried to imagine them being a chalkboard, and eventually found one that was just right. We purchased a tray, chalkboard paint (can be found as spray paint or in a can), and some wall mounting hooks. Once I taped the parts of the tray which I didn’t want to have paint on them, I sprayed the board (a total of 3 coats) and voila…a chalkboard perfect for the kitchen.
I then found 2 frames at Gordman’s which were on clearance for $6.00 each, and they definitely compliment the tray. Let me know what you think.
Until next time, keep on dilly-dallying!
